so alot of my friends and people about town are up in arms about this situation. I dont doubt something was said, but this persons responses are rather unbelievable. Not condoning this behavior on the part of the cab driver but it sounds like it could have been avoided by just simply walking away instead of keeping the conversation going. Blog fodder I guess. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Amirite?

Dafuq? I'm not even sure what to think. She really should have flicked her cigarette in to the cab.

It seems just slightly, uh, outlandish.

Well some people really just enjoy getting verbally abused. Another point is that any number that isn't like 444-4444 is going to be the personal number of the driver. . . I don't take cabs that often and even I know that. But seriously this sounds like some bullshit story to make her feel important on the internet. Sure it could have happened, and not to get into the whole victim blaming issue, conflict avoidance would have been a better route than getting anywhere near the window, let alone lean in the window to tell the dudes to piss off.

Sadly this isn't a one-off occurrence. So I don't think she should've walked away. Besides, walk away where? She was outside the restaurant where she works. A woman standing on the curb can't even stand there in peace, some jerk in cab has the temerity to insult her and she should've walked away? You know why this happens? Because the police was going to 'talk to him'. Yeah, that's gonna happen, sure.

Harassment on the streets is a very open problem and tons of women complain about it but nothing gets done. Sad but true.

Being confronted isn't her fault but it really would've been wise to just walk away instead of realizing that the situation was only going to escalate...
